Donald Williams, a school crossing guard, was directing traffic at Popp's Ferry Elementary school when he was hit on the right side by a truck. Mr. Williams was directing a bus to enter Pass Road from Agincourt Avenue. Mr. Williams was seriously injured with a broken pelvis, punctured lung and three broken ribs. He was taken to Biloxi Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a hospital in Mobile, AL.2030_02_1---Yellow-School-Bus_web.jpg

What was the driver of the truck thinking? When you go through a school zone, you are supposed to slow down to almost nothing. Not only did the driver not slow down, but then he failed to see Mr. Williams directing traffic. Mr. Williams can make a claim against the truck driver's insurance company in addition to making a claim for worker's compensation benefits since he was on the job at the time of the accident. If the driver did not have enough insurance coverage to cover all of the damages, then Mr. Williams can make a claim against his own insurance company for underinsured motorist benefits.
