LeJulia Dorothy White was killed by a drunk driver at the intersection of Hwy. 49 and Hardy Street. The driver of the other vehicle, Ronnie Matthews, was charged with DUI and a $1,000,000 bond has been set. Ms. White was a front seat passenger when their Ford Taurus was hit by the Dodge Durango SUV. Another passenger was sent to the local hospital in critical condition. All four students attended USM and were freshman. Ms. White was on scholarship and was well-liked by everyone who met her.Ms. White.jpg

WHO CAN SUE WHOM AND WHY? Anyone hurt in Ms. White's vehicle can make a claim against the drunk driver under his car insurance. Also, if that insurance was not enough to cover all of the damages, then, claims could be made against the injured parties own insurance companies for uninsured motorists benefits. Finally, since the driver was drunk, a claim could be made against the bar or store that sold the alcohol to the drunk driver for contributing to the accident.
