Waveland Police Officer Kills Bicyclist In Hancock County, MS
A Waveland Police Officer caused a wreck when he swerved his patrol car out of a turn lane and into oncoming traffic. His car collided with a Cadillac Escalade which caused the Escalade to go out of control which struck the bicyclist, Francisco Jesus Mendoza Suarez. The accident happened on U.S. 90 at about 10 p.m. Both vehicles were totaled out. Mr. Suarez was pronounced dead at Hancock Medical Center. John Baudoin, the driver of the Escalade, was taken to Gulfport Memorial with serious injuries.
WHOM CAN SUE WHOM AND WHY? This is another example of a cop supposedly turning on his blue lights and then totaling ignoring anyone else on the highway. Why was it so important to pull out in front of oncoming traffic to try to catch someone on a bicycle? Why didn't the cop wait a second until traffic was clear before crossing over the highway? There was no emergency, nor crime in progress. So, the family of Mr. Suarez can make a claim against the Waveland Police Department for killing their loved one. Also, Mr. Baudoin, can make a claim for his injuries. There is just no excuse for this senseless accident. This accident is covered under the Mississippi Tort Claims Act which covers all accidents involving government agencies.
