Oxford, MS Woman Sentenced In DUI Death

Beth Lyon was sentenced to six years for the DUI death of Rodney Shaw who was a Mississippi Valley State University professor. Lyon's BAC test results showed that she was over the legal limit at the time of the accident when her vehicle crossed the median and hit Mr. Shaw's vehicle head-on. Mr. Shaw was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which happened just in front of the main gate to the campus.

If the DUI driver obtained her alcohol from a bar or store that had a license to sell alcohol, then that business may be sued for contributing to this accident along with the driver. A lot of times, the driver only has minimal insurance coverage, or no insurance coverage, so the only way to recover any money for the wrongful death is to sue others who may be at fault for contributing to the accident.

Some of our biggest settlements came from grocery stores and bars who sold alcohol to a driver who then caused a car wreck.
